Who Are the Clippers 2023 NBA Draft Picks?

In case you missed it, the 2023 NBA Draft took place last night. The Clippers had the 30th pick in the 1st round and had the 48th pick in the 2nd round. With their 30th pick, they drafted SG/SF Kobe Brown and with their 48th pick, they drafted Guard Jordan Miller. So who are these guys?

Kobe Brown, 23, went to University of Missouri which is a Division 1 school. He went there 4 years starting in 118 of a 123 games played before getting drafted and can play Shooting Guard or Small Forward. His biggest year was his senior year. He averaged 15.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game on 55.3% from the field and 45.5% from three. He scored a career-high 31 points with five rebounds, eight assists, and four steals on December 22, 2022 against Illinois. He then followed that up with a 30-point performance the very next game against Kentucky. What is very nice is that Brown's three-point shooting jumped from 20.6% as a junior to 45.5% as a senior. He received 2023 First-team All-SEC. He is 6'8 with a 7’1 wingspan and impressive size and length. Brown is a good wing player who is versatile, excellent passer, great shooter, and has high basketball IQ. The downside is that he is one of the older players in this year's NBA Draft. It took him a while to develop in college which could mean may take a while to develop in the NBA. But one thing to note is that Terrance Mann also was an older draft pick in 2019 and he turned out great. I am giving this pick a B- because seems like they could have got something better and becuase of his age. I don't think he'll have much playing time at first but who knows maybe he will prove everyone wrong.

Jordan Miller, 23, went to the University of Miami which is a Division 1 school. He went to college for 5 years, first playing at George Mason and then transferred to Miami for 2 years before getting drafted and plays Guard. His most impressive year was also his senior year, he averaged 15.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.2 steals per game on 54.5 percent shooting from the field and 35.2% from three. He won 2023 Second-Team All-ACC. He is 6'7 with a 7'0 wingspan. Clippers apparently watched Miller for a few years now so they know a lot about him. He is a good finisher at the rim, great defensive upside, above average rebounder for his position, and good playmaker. Like Kobe Brown, Miller is one of the oldest draft picks as well. I am giving this pick a solid B becuase it isn't too bad of a pick for a 48th pick. There's no room for him now on the Clippers so it will probably take him a few years to get some minutes for the Clippers so maybe he can develop into a great NBA player which is why this pick didn't hurt. Both Brown and Miller will be competing for NBA time with the other Clippers trying to get NBA time: point guard Jason Preston, guard Bones Hyland, wing Brandon Boston and center Moussa Diabate, who are all 23 or younger.

Overall, I'd say the Clippers had a decent draft that seemed like it could have been better. Check out my Instagram page sports_news_la for some highlights of these 2 players.
