The Los Angeles Rams agreed to terms with veteran WR Demarcus Robinson. They now have around 13 Wide Receivers on their current roster. Of course about half or so will probably get cut as the season gets closer. But that still leaves them with about 6-7 Wide Receiver options for next season. So who is Demarcus Robinson and why did he get signed?
Demarcus Robinson is a veteran Wide Receiver who has a lot of experience in the NFL since 2016. He started his career with the Kansas City Chiefs as a 4th round pick. He won the Super Bowl with the Chiefs for the 2019-2020 season. He wasn't their go-to guy but he still contributed to the Chiefs a good amount on their Super Bowl win year; 32 catches for 449 yards and four touchdowns. In 2022, he signed with the Baltimore Ravens, playing a season with them, catching 48 passes for 458 yards and two touchdowns. In total, Robinson has played 7 NFL seasons and has 193 career receptions for 2,137 yards and 16 touchdowns. Not bad.
So why did the Rams sign him with so many Wide Receivers? Well, the contract details aren't out yet but they probably didn't pay too much for him. The thing that makes him different from the other younger Receivers is that he has the experience. He likely won't be the top guy for the rams though but potentially could be one of them. This signing means that Rams are not content with their current WR squad. Last year, the Rams did have a lot of injury troubles so this signing is also some insurance in case it happens again next season. It's never a bad thing to add more depth, especially a guy with a lot of NFL experience like Robinson.
