With the 2024 NBA Free Agency starting June 30th, the Lakers have been pretty quiet. LeBron James declined his player option, hoping to sign for less money so that the Lakers can sign some stars but it has not been working out. With most top free agents coming off the board, there is little left.
Signed players:
-Jaxson Hayes (exercised player option)
-Cam Reddish (exercised player option)
-Max Christie (to re-sign on 4 year, $32 million deal)
Players lost:
TBD
With only 2 moves so far coming from their own 2 players from last season, the Lakers free agency is not looking good. LeBron was willing to make a financial sacrifice for top free agents such as Klay Thompson, Jonas Valanciunas, and James Harden but all those players have already found their team. The Lakers next best option will be to sign DeMar DeRozan but turning 35 years old by next season, it is not the best pick up. But not to worry, there's still a lot of players to sign and trades that can very well happen. Let's see.
