LA Clippers Draft Pick - Guard Cam Christie

For the Los Angeles Clippers only pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, they drafted Shooting Guard Cam Christie in the 2nd round, 46th overall. So who is he and why did the Clippers draft him?

Cam Christie, 18, played college basketball for 1 year at the University of Minnesota, a D1 college. Christie averaged 11.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. Christie, who turns 19 this month, is a 6-foot-5 shooting guard who shot 40.3% from the field and 39.1% from three-point range. Cam's brother, Max Christie, plays for the Lakers since getting drafted by them in the 2nd round in 2022 and had similar numbers in college.

So why did the Clippers draft Cam? I would say Cam was one of steals in the 2nd round. For some, he was projected to go in the 1st round. He is a pretty nice shooter, he's young, has great athleticism, and great ball control. Cam may even be better than his older brother, who is doing well in the NBA. Cam will probably get minimal playing time next season, but if he is developed the right way, he can be a very good pick up. I'm going to rate this an an "A-" pick grade. At 46, it's hard to find someone solid and Clippers did so, especially finally a young guy.
