LA Chargers 2024 Draft Recap

The 2024 NFL Draft concluded last weekend and Chargers had 9 picks! Here’s a quick recap on who they got along with a brief description on what they can bring.

Round 1, No. 5: Joe Alt, OL, Notre Dame

Surprising they didn’t take a Wide Receiver which they desperately need but the best offensive linemen in the draft is not a bad pickup. He allowed just one sack and five total pressures in 2023. Alt will likely start at Right Tackle.

Round 2, No. 34 (via New England): Ladd McConkey, WR, Georgia

Finally drafted what they needed. He had 30 receptions for 478 yards (15.9 avg.) and two touchdowns in nine games for the Bulldogs in 2023.

Round 3, No. 69: Junior Colson, LB, Michigan

Colson was a second-team Big Ten selection and led the team with 95 tackles last season.

Round 4, No. 105: Justin Eboigbe, DT, Alabama

He was the only Power 5 player in 2023 with at least 150 pass rushes as a defensive tackle and 150 pass rushes as an edge rusher. Eboigbe on the field allowed 3.4 yards per rush; with him off the field, 4.5 yards per rush.

Round 5, No. 137 (via New England): Tarheeb Still, CB, Maryland

Opposing quarterbacks had a QB rating of 35 when targeting him.

Round 5, No. 140: Cam Hart, CB, Notre Dame

He surrendered just 137 receiving yards on 28 targets in 2023, did not allow an opponent a passing touchdown during the '23 campaign.

Round 6, No. 181: Kimani Vidal, RB, Troy University

Vidal likely projects to be mainly a special teams contributor in his first year. Vidal set the Troy career (4,010), single-season (1,661), and single-game (248) rushing records.

Round 7 No. 225: Brenden Rice, WR, USC

Son of Pro Football Hall of Fame receiver Jerry Rice. Rice led USC with a 14.6 air yards per target average in 2023, and 7 of his 12 TD receptions were on vertical routes.

Round 7, No. 253: Cornelius Johnson, WR, Michigan

He had 119 receptions since the start of 2021, the sixth most in the Big Ten. Johnson mainly played out wide in his career, with 84% of his snaps over the last three seasons coming lined up on the outside.
