The Minnesota Twins acquire former prized catching prospect Diego Cartaya from the Los Angeles Dodgers for minor league right-hander Jose Vasquez, per Bob Nightengale.
Cartaya was DFA’ed last week when Dodgers acquired Hyeseong Kim. At least the Dodgers got something in return.
Vasquez is a 20-year old Dominican pitching prospect who had a 4.99 ERA across 11 appearances (three starts) last season in the Dominican Summer League. He had 45 strikeouts across 30.2 innings. Still young and may have potential to be good one day.
