Yup, another Angel to the Injured List. Anthony Rendon is going on the IL with a left groin strain. Rendon said he’s been feeling the groin discomfort since Milwaukee. “It’s definitely frustrating. I’m angry… I’ve been getting punched a lot lately. It sucks.”
He also said not sure how long he’ll be out but he doesn’t think it’s too bad. Judging from his previous injury stints though, it could be a while but I hope I am wrong. Rendon has been pretty solid this year. He's got a .301 AVG, 1 HR, 20 RBI, .784 OPS. OPS could be better but still hitting well. Hopefully, Rendon will be back soon.
Livan Soto was called up from Double-A because of this. Soto began the season at Triple-A, but was shifted down to Double-A Rocket City about a month ago. Soto is hitting .170 AVG, 6 RBI, .560 OPS combined in both leagues. Not good at all so not really sure the reasoning behind this call up. Last season he did play for a bit in the Majors, hitting .400 AVG and .996 OPS in 55 ABs, so maybe they think he can re-visit that. He's also pretty solid on defense and can play SS, 2B, 3B, and played CF once.
Some better news is Chad Wallach was also activated from the concussion IL. Optioned was C Chris Okey to Triple-A Salt Lake.
