Yet another Angels pitcher going to IL. When will it stop? Angels SP Jose Suarez (shoulder) has been placed on the 15-day injured list. Luckily, it is another struggling pitcher. Suarez is having an awful season with a 9.62 ERA through 6 starts. Frankly, I'm not sure why he's even starting still or why he's pitching in the majors. But hopefully while he's on the IL, he recovers and comes back better than ever. If not, Angels need to toughen up and let him go.
Meanwhile, it seems that reliever RHP Cesar Valdez is called up and Angels transferred LHP José Quijada to 60-day injured list. He's probably not going to start even though he did start some games in the Minors. But Probably Suarez replacement is coming from the bullpen (Davidson, Barria, Silseth). Honestly, not sure why Valdez is called up either. He did not pitch well in the Minors this season. He has a 7.27 ERA in 26 innings and a .348 opponents batting average. Not sure why that deserves a call up. He did start 4 games so perhaps he's just not a good starter but this move is still questionable by Angels management.
Also, catcher Chris Okey is on Angels Taxi squad.
