Angels Call Up David Fletcher and Jared Walsh

With today off, the Angels have decided to make some moves.

They have selected the contracts of INF David Fletcher (.330 AVG, .810 OPS in 85 Minor League games this season) and INF Jared Walsh (.217 AVG, .735 OPS, 9 HR in 52 Minor League games this season). Why? Well, Fletcher is actually hitting very well in the Minors all season but just struggling in the MLB. Pretty surprising it's been this late that he got called up again. He was called up earlier in the season but didn't bat well with a .213 AVG and .543 OPS. He also only had 47 at-bats so he didn't really have too much time to prove his worth for the team. He'll now get another shot hopefully this time staying in the MLB. He can play a few infield and outfield positions so curious on how will he be used. 1B/OF Jared Walsh on the other hand is just struggling in both the Minors and Majors. A former All-Star now barely holding on in the MLB. He was DFA'ed earlier in the season but no one wanted him so he went back to the Angels Minor Leagues system. Hasn't been hitting well but as the Angels are already out of playoff contention, now is the perfect time to see if he's in the teams future plans or not. He's also has been dealing with health issues such as insomnia and headaches so that can be the cause of his poor performances. Maybe he's feeling better now.

Angels transferred INF Luis Rengifo to 60-day IL (ruptured biceps tendon). Not surprising as he was ruled out for the rest of the season. Very unfortunate as he was having a career year. Hoping for a speedy recovery.

They designated RHP Gerardo Reyes for assignment (7.45 ERA in 8 games this season). Hasn't pitched many games in the Majors but has pitched a good amount in the minors and has struggled as well with a 6.25 ERA. The Angels ran out of options on him and not worth to keep and test on the MLB roster. He may just not get picked up and come back to the Angels Minor League team.

Following yesterday’s game, Angels optioned OF Jordyn Adams (.156 AVG, .308 OPS in 15 MLB games this season) & INF Kyren Paris (.094 AVG, .310 OPS in 13 MLB games this season) to Triple-A Salt Lake. Probably another reason why Fletcher and Walsh got called up. Adams and Paris have not hit well and not shown any promise, likely not ready for the Majors yet.
