Andre Jackson DFA’ed

The Dodgers announced today that Relief Pitcher, Andre Jackson, has been designated for assignment. He had a 6.62 ERA in 17.2 innings. In relation to this move, the Dodgers are adding reliever Ryan Brasier to the 40-man roster. Reliever LHP Bryan Hudson was optioned to the Minors.

In 21 innings with the Red Sox this season, Brasier posted a 7.29 ERA, 4.38 FIP & 1.57 WHIP. A worse stat line than Andre Jackson.

So why did the Dodgers make this move? Well to be quite honest, I'm not too sure. Other than his ERA and that he ran out of options to move back and forth between the Minors and Majors, there's not much reasoning behind it. Yes, his ERA is pretty bad in both the Majors and Minors this year but he has a ton of potential. There are a lot of other pitchers with bad ERA's on the Dodgers roster who probably deserve to be DFA'ed more, but Jackson was chosen. In Jackson's previous years in the MLB (2021 and 2022), he was pretty solid. But it must be something that the Dodgers coaching staff see in him that doesn't fit in their future plans. And maybe the Dodgers feel like they can fix veteran Ryan Brasier. There is a chance that Andre Jackson could still remain with the team if he clears waivers, but highly doubtful as there are not many solid pitchers like him on the free market right now. Best of luck to Andre Jackson!
